About Us
The owner's maternal and paternal families moved to Ennis in the 1890s. After surviving the Great Depression, Mr. D served in WWII and upon his return, he and his wife settled in Dallas. Still, they longed to maintain the country life they had always known, so they purchased about 967 acres, to run cattle, fish, and bird hunt. They had one child who dreamt of living in the country and that dream became a reality in 1997. It is our pleasure to share our bliss with you.
Experience Peaceful Tranquility
At Kick Ass Ranch vacation rentals, you can turn off the cell phone and devices that distract your mind and truly focus on self reflection. Why not take a hike on our 3/4 mile (round-trip) driveway and enjoy the natural landscape along with the sights and sounds of nature? You'll feel connected to the world around you once more. Depending on the season you may see monarch butterflies, blue herons, hawks, golden eagles, caracara, vultures, oppossums, raccoons, armadillos, skunks, owls, cardinals, deer, road runners, and more. Of course, you'll see the large and miniature donkeys, llamas, and angora fiber goats, on the other side of the fenced yard, as they meander about their pasture. We ask that you observe nature without entering the livestock pasture or barn. We are more than happy to introduce you to our tame miniature donkeys, just ask. You can lure them to the fence with a few goodies, like peanuts in the shell or carrots and feed them from the safety of the fenced yard.

Come nightfall, set a spell out on the patio and stargaze and if you are of a mind to, go ahead and roast marshmallows or howl with the coyotes that wail each night. Bring your camera, canvas, book, or just yourself; it's a staycation retreat from the hectic modern pace.
Near the City but Worlds Away

Your vacation rental is conveniently located to all that Ennis has to offer, such as, the bluebonnet trail and festival, the Motorplex races, the National Polka Festival, and the Fall festival. If work brings you here, we can offer a long term stay and we welcome those from overseas. Downtown Dallas with its numerous museums can be reached in about 45 minutes and the city central and upscale shopping is only about 55 minutes away.
